The Latest Kindle Is The Amazon Kindle 2

without comments

First, Amazon pioneered online bookstores so people can purchase books without visiting the bookstores. Then, they redefined reading by enabling people to read books without the books through the Kindle 2 Reader. And if those privileged with the initial Kindle are still gaga over it, wait till they catch sight of the Kindle 2. In a nutshell, the Kindle 2 is the original Kindle with a big step further into the future of reading.

Like many other things, new-wave reading is electronic. If the e book reader is Oprah’s current favorite gadget, so will it be for many of her fans. Sure enough, the Kindles have been flying off the shelves. And why not, all-in-one shopping, purchasing and immediate downloading of books online anytime anywhere in the US and you don’t even need a computer for that as it’s done on the reader itself.

There are several brands of electronic book readers to choose from in the market. Having that said, don’t bother to look beyond the top of the pack as many of the rest are still in beta. By far the two most proven brands are the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS. Both have generated running series and are already into their latter models. The consensus though, is Amazon Kindle 2 is fast drawing away from competition with Sony’s flagship PRS – 700 a distant second.

If you’re in the market for an eBook Reader, you must act fast especially if it’s a Kindle 2 you’re after. Quoted delivery lead-time averaged 10 weeks during the holiday season although you can also buy Kindle 2 ex-stock on eBay but that would likely involve a price premium. People are packing away their hard copy books and they are going digital with their reading. That seems to be both fashion and function these days.

The Kindle 2 Reader may come in an off-white color but it’s really green at its core. Given that it’s going to revolutionize the way people read and the scale of its impact based on the its projected sales volume, it’s not difficult to imagine the number of trees that would be spared from being turned into paper for books which in turn benefits the environment and then ultimately us all, readers and non-readers alike.

Kindle 2 Reader save money too. Savvy readers would realize that Amazon subsidizes its Kindle book sales and provides free sampling of e-books so you are never mistaken about buying a book. That may be string attached to sell its electronic book reader but the bottom line makes sense at the end of the day. Even for occasional readers, this should be a no-brainer. That’s on top of all the other good stuff it brings.

A Bible Timeline And Preaching The Word Of God

without comments

You can imagine my surprise when recently it an old retired pastor, sharply rebuked me for making some interesting points about the death burial in the resurrection of Jesus, and he quoted a Scripture 1Tim 1:4 “nor to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies.. ”

I quietly and respectfully asked him if I had said anything that was heretical or inappropriate to which he answered. “No”. I explained that this Scripture was never meant to exclude genuine enquiry into the Bible, but rather it was targeting the false philosophy of Gnosticism. But he would not have it.

Gnosticism had been so influential in the new Testament times, and the new Testament writings, how could a pastor of 40 years experience not know this. It is important for pastors to know these things, and to teach their congregation in order that they might understand and interpret their Bible well.

If the many pastors persist in preaching, lightweight and shallow messages to the congregation, the results will always be a people, who do understand their Bible very well. Pastors preach again and again ‘moral essays’ and ‘warming affirmations’, for this is what good Christians do, if they truly ‘love’ each other.

Well, who cares if God’s people are falling through the cracks ‘for a lack of knowledge’ (oracle), what’s really important, is if we are very positive and ‘nice’ to everybody.

Think about it, the more ‘relevant’ Christians become, to the world, the less relevant christians are in reality, to the world. :-(

Why do Pastors get stuck in a rut of favorite topics and ‘feel good’ messages? Preachers preach on a verse from 1 John further a part about a victorious one from Luke; topical address from Matthew following on with the true faith of Mary Magdalene or the rigtheousness of Abraham.

After preaching portions from here and from there, through the Bible we need then to put it all together in a clear, understandable way for our congregation.

We seem to have a constant flow of new books and ideas, with dangerous Liberal leanings. We are repeating history, but if we were to teach the basics of Church history, we would be more equipped to avoid repeating that history.

Let’s equip the Church in understanding God, His Great Plan and the Bible by sewing each piece together into a seamless beautiful tapestry.

It’s not a difficult thing to accomplish, we just need to put in some study and prayer.

John 17:17 Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. (NAB)
