Can 3D TVs Really Make You Sick? Read This Before You Buy One!
Yes there’s a newbie on the block. It’s a new generation HDTV called 3D. The jury is still out on this new HDTV product. Just for the record a three dimensional television set is a TV that enables home viewers to enjoy video content using a stereo for the eyes effect. In 3D, 2 unique images of the identical scene are used, 1 image per eye. While wearing the 3D TV eyeglasses, the images are combined and it produces a single image. This technology creates the 3rd dimension optical illusion that is displayed on your TV. Now you need to know that everyone may not be able to see this 3D effect. They experience something identified as stereo blindness. However it’s uncommon and to be truthful very few people have this issue.
You can be sure that 2011 will see 3D TV rise to the next level because big business is betting that consumers will jump on this new High Def product. Led by the sports industry (can you see the potential there) ESPN is banking on a 3D fan following. To be fair watching sports in 3D is something different. The home will be the spot where you’ll be watching this and although we can currently watch high-definition TV sports with clarity and detail, the 3D experience pulls you into the event so that you feel like a part of the game. You can even see the motion picture industry getting into the act. They are churning out a new crop of 3D movies for our consumption.
Here’s some basic things to know about 3D TV. To date you can only watch either 2D or 3D but neither simultaneously. One other point. Apparently all 3D TVs are not made equal. Appears like we’ve got that old Plasma versus LCD debate reprised. Yes plasma television fans claim that 3D is significantly better suited to their technology and they could be right. Only time will tell. The feeling of the plasma industry is that their product enhances the 3D experience and this is the key to their future. On of the most respected high tech big businesses, IBM, believes that the future of holographic technology will evolve from 3D TV. This innovative holographic technology may eventually be shrunk down for use on our mobile phones and moreover has telepresence (video conferencing) uses. IBM envisions that our computer interaction will change as a result of this 3D technology. So here’s the question. Is 3D here to stay or just a passing fad? Is this something people would actually buy for their home? Three things about 3D TV that may surprise you.
1. 3D has a funny way of ruining TV watching. Let’s face we all spend a lot of family time around the TV. Sadly much of our family socialization revolves around our TV viewing. The glasses restrict us to staring at the TV so watching 3D programming changes this interaction. Multi-taskers will lose their ability to do other things while watching their 3D TV. This means no texting , tweeting or chatting while watching 3D TV.
2. TV watching is usually a family experience so in many ways it’s a form of socializing. Watching 3D programming significantly changes this interaction. The glasses restrict us to just looking at the TV. Also multi-taskers will not like the inability to do other things (like multi-task!) while entranced by their 3D TV. This means no chatting, tweeting or texting while watching a show.
3. Believe it or not you really need to think about the health risks. 3D viewing can cause headaches and eye-strain for some people. Also, similar to virtual reality gaming, 3D tricks the brain and can cause disorientation or nausea. I know because virtual reality games have that effect on me and it’s fairly common. Lastly nobody knows about the potential for long-term effects from watching extended 3D TV.
So those are the big three reasons to me with a couple of side ones thrown in. Ahh – OK I can’t help myself because I am a critic. Let me throw in one last thing. There is currently a lack of content so if you buy one of these TVs you won’t have too much to watch. 3D may stick around but they need more innovation (maybe a TV that does not require those darn glasses). I think I’ll wait and see how this 3D really turns out.

Should You Buy Your HDTV Online Or Offline?
As soon as you have done your investigation and chose the high definition television kind that you judge would likely to match your requirements and desires, it is time to come to a decision about where to really complete the purchase. Before, you certainly did not have much of a choice, and the local electronics retailer is probably the only shop you could go. These days the internet has made online purchasing so much faster and better, thus the problem at the moment is should you purchase online or offline?
In fact, it is more often than not a safe plan to go to the neighborhood electronics shop to get a face-to-face presentation of just about any TV that you are considering purchasing. That’s a huge pro that offline vendors enjoy, you can in fact physically look at the products prior to the retailing.
Yet, if it is a huge electronics store chains, frequently, the service will not be very pleasant, and don’t be expecting the sales employees to be especially well-informed too. They are frequently low remunerated sales staff who are not hired for their know-how of the products. The high turnover rate often stops you from communicating with a really skilled individual. They also are commonly more concerned with vending the merchandise they intend for you to obtain more than the merchandise that you choose to acquire thus their opinions would usually be one-sided. Thus, these types of shops are frequently just good for doing explorations and obtaining product information.
The higher line electronics shops could be great sources of information and the service is usually much better there, but you pay for all of that, as the costs for the same goods would usually be a lot cost more than at the retail stores.
Online vendors can contrast highly and run the extent from johnny-come-latelys to well-established, trustworthy sellers. The one substantial pro that online sellers have over their offline equivalents is considerably less expensive overhead prices. That signifies that they are not required to bring in as much income on each transaction to stay in business as the offline sellers do. The cutback are subsequently passed on to you.
Because HDTVs are a costly purchase to begin with, the add-on expenditure related with shipping are most frequently offset by the fact that you do not need to shoulder sales tax on the item.
The foremost concern to keep in mind about online sellers is the need to do business with those that have been in business for years. That indicates steadiness in their business practices. It is also wise to transact with sellers who are certified dealers for the products that they vend. Again, that refers more to the quality of the entire transaction that you are dealing with.
Generally therefore, if you do adequate inquiries beforehand online to get a hold a satisfactory working awareness of the HDTV merchandise that are available, and then go to a local store to actually present them, you can then save substantial sums of money by paying for your preferred model online from a popular, trustworthy trader.

Overview Of DLP TVs
DLP technology is one of the highest growing divisions of the TV audience. DLP TVs make use of the similar technology that has long been used to power projectors and equivalent systems. The expertise that makes DLP televisions probable was made at Texas Instruments back in 1987. Texas Instruments is up to now the principal manufacturer of this technology up to the present.
What makes DLP television technology so unique is that it uses a small digital micromirror apparatus, or DMD to angle over 1.3 million small mirrors, each less in size than the width of a human hair. Each of these small mirrors is angled either moving forward or away from the source of the light, so, producing the light and dark pixels that make up the display. DLP televisions are rear projection televisions, but they aren’t as sizeable, as weighty, or as bulky as the usual rear projection televisions of yesteryears.
The makers of these DLP televisions reads like a genuine whos who of electronics manufacturers, with such popular brand names such as Sony, Samsung, Phillips, Toshiba and others.
The cost of these TVs vary quite a bit as well, with the bigger televisions generally costing more than the smaller ones. Conventional prices for a 50 HDTV ready DLP television range from approximately $1,500 to more than $2,500, however, the real price will of course differ according to the features of the actual model.
DLP televisions are offered in both standard and widescreen format, so it’s critical to take into account your own partiality and TV viewing practices when buying for a new TV.
What You Can Expect from a DLP television
There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages when it comes to taking pleasure in television and movies on a DLP screen. The chief challenger for DLP, in terms of both price and value, is the plasma TV, and in some cases, the classier LCD TVs.
Let’s begin with a look at the advantages of DLP television technology. This technology does come with several significant features and benefits, including:
*Efficient, jitter free pictures
*No screen burn in
*Good contrast and superior color depth
*DLP rear projection TVs are thinner, smaller, and more lightweight than usual TVs
*Changeable light source
*Long lasting light source – some new units tested have an approximate lamp life of 20,000 hours
The drawback of DLP TV technology consist of:
*They are not as thin or as slim looking as the best plasma displays, although the real weight is more or less the same.
*Though the bulbs are easy to change and made to last, they’re a bit pricey. Most models of bulb utilized to power DLP TVs retail for between $200 and $500.
*A number of prototypes may have fans that are fairly loud.
DLP or Plasma?
The major competitor to DLP TV technology is the plasma TV. Both technologies could provide outstanding depth of color and outstanding clarity, so it’s essential to look wisely at the actual features of the television in which you are fascinated in. Reading the characteristics would tell you a great deal on the characteristic you could wait for.
One of the most important benefits of DLP technology lies in its intensity and its viewing angle. DLP TVs can have a great viewing angle, certainly much better than past models of rear projection TVs and regularly just as superior as that of a plasma television. DLP televisions are excessively sharp and pleasant to the eye, and there is nothing to burn out except for a single lamp. While these lamps are somewhat pricey, amounting to $200 to $500, they are trouble-free to replace, and several have a very long life expectancy.
The size of the DLP TV is another important matter to consider, and since they’re rear projection TVs, DLP televisions are fairly fit to the bigger dimensions in which they’re obtainable. It is critical to quantify the television cautiously to make certain it would be correct for the area where it’ll be situated.
When it comes to cost, DLP televisions undoubtedly have the lead. It’s critical, of course, to shop around as much as possible. Shopping around would help ensure you’re able to get not only the cheapest but the best overall value as well.

Tennessee Titans Can’t Find a W
Who would have expected the Tennessee Titans to open up the season with an 0-2 record? After a successful 2008 season, it’s shocking.
The Titans dominated their competition during the 2008 regular season. If my memory serves me right, I think they won their first 10 games before losing one in November. This is the kind of Tennessee Titans football that I’m used to seeing, and I’m stunned to see that they’ve dropped their first two to open the season.
It’s not that the Titans are a bad team. In 08′ the Titans went–3, winning the AFC South and overthrowing the Colts. This year QB Kerry Collins is completing less then 59% of his pass attempts – granted the Titans have an average receiving core.
Having acquired Nate Washington and a few other valuable pieces, many fans were hoping this would be enough to withstand the loss of Albert Haynesworth. Anytime you lose a player as valuable as Haynesworth it will definitely show, however nobody would have expected it to show this much.
In week 1, the Titans faced a difficult challenge in visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh. Having to play the defending champions at their own field on opening night is a huge challenge in and of itself, but the Titans handled the challenge well, nearly coming away with a win against the Steelers.
With the loss of DT Albert Haynesworth, the Titans defense may not be as strong as it once was but they still have defensive skill players such as Cortland Finnegan, Chris Hope, Keith Bulluck, and Nick Harper.
While it’s true that the Texans seem to play the Titans well (think back to that nail biter last season with all of those Rob Bironas field goals), the Titans looked pretty dreadful during the loss. Their running game was fine, but the defense was notably weaker than that of last season. They looked like one of the worst defensive units in the entire NFL.
Since the Titans play in the same division as the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans, hopefully they can get some “easy” wins against them and other below average teams to finish the season with a respectable record. This can either be a very long season for the Tennessee Titans – or it can be one where they find out what they are made of bouncing back from a bad start

What Kind of TVs Does Hitache Produce?
While you can still find a Hitachi projection television, this company is now switching its emphasis to the front projection television models that incorporate digital light processing as the procedure for projecting the picture. Hitachi is the leader among those manufacturers who are developing thinner televisions to meet the demands of the public.
Projection television sets are found both in rear and front projection models. They continue to be an intelligent choice for people who might be considering jumbo screen, high definition televisions as projection televisions continue to be more affordable than the flat screen LCD televisions, in spite of the fact that the latter have become less expensive in recent years. The Hitachi projection television is marketed as a home theater system and employs digital light processing for the method by which the photo is transmitted to the screen.
Most televisions manufactured recently incorporate digital processing due to the fact that signals are currently changing over from analog to digital. Digital transmission is faster and more complete and will offer consumers a clearer picture. If you now use cable or satellite television, you have probably already realized the difference in television reception resulting from digital signals.
After you choose your new Hitachi projection television, you may then choose from many dimensions that feature digital light processing technology. DLP technology allows a normal sized picture that has been transmitted through the video signal to be enlarged to the height and width of the TV. Hitachi markets many sizes of the front projection television, with screens that range between 52 and 72 inches wide. Obviously, the cost of each model depends largely on the dimensions of the screen.
Digital light processing televisions offer high definition projections and are often thought to be a superior technology to the LCD projection televisions. The reason why people overwhelmingly favor the LCD televisions is they have a slender profile. While the Hitachi projection television remains too large to hang on a wall, it is significantly slimmer than previous big screen televisions. Also, it is considerably more reasonably priced when compared to any flat screen, LCD television with a comparably sized screen. Because most consumers do not have a television suspended from a wall – the way that LCD flat screens are designed to do – it does not matter to most individuals whether the television is particularly slender, just so long as it produces state of the art picture and sound.
While there are still some Hitachi projection televisions available which employ CRT technology that creates a bulkier unit, the future regarding the Hitachi projection television line is in front projection. Hitachi is additionally one of several leading companies who are developing 3D television technology which will effectively work with front projection digital technology and might be purchased by consumers soon.

Great Things About LG TVs
There are many things that make LG one of the world…apos;s top television manufacturing groups. The LG TVs that the company makes work with all sorts of unique features. To get a better idea of what LG uses it helps to see what these features are.
LG TVs can come in LCD or plasma forms. The Liquid Crystal Display type of set can work in a place where lighting cannot be controlled. The LCD type comes in many sizes from a 19-inch 720p option to a larger 55-inch 1080p set. Plasma sets, which can come in sizes of more than fifty inches, are also notable. They work with million to one or higher contrast ratios and create their own lights.
TruMotion is also featured on these sets. TruMotion is used in LG TVs to process sudden changes in images quickly. Faster processing rates are used for these images. With this anything that moves fast on the screen will be properly displayed. The blurring that can occur without TruMotion will be removed.
LG makes it easy for people to handle adjustments on their TV sets through the Picture Wizard. This is a feature that is used to alter various factors on a set. These factors include the sharpness, brightness, tint and color of the screen. The feature works by presenting test pictures that are used for guiding changes. It will be easy to see what settings work when they are adjusted with these pictures in mind.
LG TVs also work with notable sound technologies. The Invisible Speaker feature works by projecting sound through hidden speakers on the edges of the screen. Instead of sound going towards the floor it goes right towards the viewer. The Clear Voice II feature is used to change dialog ranges that are being played. This can help to get dialog to be more audible.
There are also three different AV setups that can be used on an LG set. The Cinema AV setup works with a greater color setting with less brightness. The Sport setup enhances the contrast ratio and color so that primary colors are enhanced. The Game setup improves black levels by increasing the color setting and reducing the contrast ratio.
These are all unique things to see in the TV sets that LG has to offer. The plasma and LCD options available from LG are unique. They can be controlled with ease and can handle many technologies. The factors used for various LG sets are all great to see.

Will LED Replace LCD In Flatscreens
When the flat screen televisions burst on the scene a handful of years ago, everyone clamored to get a look at them. Now they are commonplace in most homes and a lot of people are hard pressed to remember life without one.
The first flat screens were all plasma and there was no such thing as HD in the first models. Then high definition was introduced and you could get a flat screen television with HD but it was substantially more. As more and more units sold and the technology was perfected, the prices started to come down to a point where more people could afford them.
Shortly after the price of the plasma sets started to fall, something called LCD came on the market. LCD screens were similar to plasma but they are supposed to last longer and so many people preferred to buy LCD. If you go into a TV store today, you will find mostly LCD flat screens for sale with just a few plasma sets offered.
Now there is a new kind of screen that has just been introduced by Samsung. LED screens are similar to LCD but they have backlighting that allows all the televisions to be only 1.2 inches thin. Additionally, these sets use 40% less energy so they are bound to catch on for their environment friendly aspects.
If you want to see the new LED flat screens all you have to do is drop by your local Best Buy store. You will see the new LED sets on display and be amazed at the color and clarity as well as the thinness of the sets. If you were hesitant to hang your flat screen on the wall due to the weight, these new sets are much lighter and will be just what you are looking for. Unfortunately these LED televisions are a bit expensive right now but as more are made, the prices will drop.
