When to Use Helmet Cameras

without comments

The use of helmet cameras is increasing, especially in sports TV broadcasting. Helmet cams are tiny video cameras, usually mounted on a helmet, that provide viewers with the wearers point of view. Helmet cameras are fantastic little devices, and they stand up to a lot of punishment. They have many different uses, thanks to their versatility.

The best part about helmet cams is that they are very rugged and weatherproof; a lot of them are even waterproof and can shoot underwater. And, even though they are built to be very durable and last a long time, theyre still portable and lightweight. This makes them great for a lot of different purposes, from scuba diving to riding around in a field of mud on an ATV.

The most popular use for helmet cameras is in sports broadcasting. The helmet cam gives broadcasters the opportunity to show the action from the players point of view, in turn giving viewers a better view of the action. Most cameras are wide-angle lenses, so theyre able to capture more action, as well. Coaches can make great use of helmet cameras because it allows them to more accurately analyze an athletes movements.

Thankfully these cameras arent very expensive. While they do range in price depending on the quality, with TV stations using the highest quality and most expensive cameras, you can get a decent camera for a very modest price. Some of the more popular models that sell very well are the Vio POV 1.5 and the Gopro Hero series. Whats even better is that you dont need to buy a new type of memory storage for the new cameras; they use both compact SD cards and micro SD cards, and most people already have several of these for their current cameras.

If youre really into documenting your sports and adventures from your point of view, helmet cameras are definitely the way to go. Not only will you be able to re-live your experience, but you can let others see everything the way you do. Plus, if youre really into editing together your own videos, helmet cams give you a different point of view and different angles than a hand-held camera. A helmet cameras flexibility alone will give you many different options, and theyre not a big investment either.
